Hey friends! I’ve been getting some questions about my jeans lately from some stories and posts on instagram, so I’m going to let you in on how I get my jeans the way I like them!
First of all, most of my jeans are super old or are thrift store jeans that I cut up and distressed them the way I want them to be.
Second, it barely takes any work or time! It’s super easy! Giving life to ugly old jeans is the best. I redid like 4 pairs of jeans recently instead of going shopping and I fell in love with them!
Okay so there’s a few different ways to distress and rip jeans. But the way that I have done mine are by these steps:
Mark where you want the cuts and cut above and under, a couple times for more rips. ( you can make them uneven and angles and all kinds of things, play around with it!)
Using tweezers pull and fray the ends that are not between the cut pieces. ( Literally take the tweezers and just pull at the ends.)
On the middle cuts, pull the blue strings out so your only left with white strings.
(optional:Using a hand cheese grater or sander, you can distress anywhere on the jeans to give it a lighter look.)
If you want to hem your jeans. Cut the bottom off and reattach with your handy sewing machine. I found this great Sewing Machine company. The company is a family owned business that has everything you could want and more as far as sewing goes. They offer the top brands like Brother! One things I really enjoy about this company is that they even offer classes to help you learn or become an expert at sewing. From cross stitch to needle and thread, you can ever go wrong with what they have to offer. They have a location here in the Atlanta area and it’s perfect to bring the family along with!
And that’s it! I told you it’s so easy! But be warned…. it gets messy. I had strings everywhere haha.
Comment with any questions or just show me your master piece!
